Is Laser Liposuction Right For You?Are you interested in jump starting the year with weight loss? Have diet and exercise not been enough? Are there certain body areas that just don’t seem to look that good no matter what you do? Why not consider liposuction to help remove fat and start the New Year toward a better you. Laser liposuction is a safe and sure way to lose those inches during an outpatient procedure. Laser liposuction is done while the patient is awake. There are no risks of general anesthesia. The entire procedure is performed under local anesthesia known as the tumescent technique. A local anesthesia, lidocaine is mixed with normal saline and infused in the areas where the fat is to be removed. The advantage of the tumescent technique is that there have been no reported deaths from this type of anesthesia. Also, blood loss is minimal as compared to the old way of liposuction under general anesthesia. Because the patient is awake it allows the doctor to stand the patient and check the results before the procedure is completed. The patient gets to see the results immediately. Newer techniques in liposuction involve using smaller cannula’s to remove the fat allowing a smoother appearance of the skin after the procedure. In addition, the use of a laser helps to both smooth the undersurface and tighten the skin. Recovery depends on the patient and the amount of fat removed but generally is 2-3 days. Most people are able to return to work within a day. Once the fat is removed those fat cells are gone for good. |
